band: the blind lemons
After
yesterdays fantastic gig I guess today was doomed form the start, the band were
2 hours late for soundchecking due to the M62 and Tobe got laryngitis.
Still, he’s a professional and didn’t want to let anyone down so the
show went ahead (but the following days’ gig in Liverpool has been postponed
to allow Tobe to recover).
Still,
the gig itself went very well. After
each gig I’ve been to I’ve told Toby that “this was the best one yet!”
and I’ve meant it every time. I
expect Nottingham to be faultless by this rationale.
Tobe
seemed to have sharpened his nails for this gig as he was going through strings
like a grater through cheese.
‘Don’t
Pray For Me’ was very well received tonight, in one of the few venues
that Toby did actually play on the ill-fated Ignorance Is Bliss tour of 1995.
Toby
pulled Iain Roy up for ‘Too Much Too Young’ –
he looked very happy to be there despite saying he would hate to be on-stage
earlier in the day!
